Jobscan is built around comparing a resume with a specific job description, then showing a match rate, missing keywords, formatting issues, and other ATS-related signals. It also now includes a resume builder, LinkedIn optimization, job tracking, cover-letter tools, and job-search features. The catch for some job seekers is cost: Jobscan Premium is currently $49.95 per month, or $89.95 every three months.
We checked seven Jobscan alternatives for the parts that matter most in that workflow: direct job-description matching, keyword gaps, resume analysis, free access, paid pricing, account requirements, resume building, and job tracking. Prices and plan limits below were checked on official provider pages on October 2, 2026.
Disclosure: SkillsForResume publishes this comparison and also operates the ATS Resume Checker included below. We apply the same feature criteria to our own tool and point out where paid competitors offer functions it does not.
Best Jobscan alternatives at a glance
If you only need a quick shortlist, start here. "Free" does not always mean the same thing: some tools offer a permanent free tier, some limit scans or reports, and others reserve deeper analysis for paid plans.

Why look for a Jobscan alternative?
Price is the obvious reason, but it is not the only one. Some job seekers want a simpler resume-and-job-description check without paying for a larger platform. Others want a resume builder, a job tracker, more writing help, a lower-cost scanner, or a tool they can try without creating an account.
Free limits also differ sharply. Jobscan's free membership includes limited scans, while SkillSyncer currently gives two job-match scans per week, Teal exposes the top five job-description keywords on its free plan, and Huntr includes basic resume scoring and job matching with free tracking for up to 100 jobs. Those are different workflows, not interchangeable versions of the same product.
Privacy can matter too. If you do not want another career-platform account, the free ATS Resume Checker on this site runs its analysis in the browser and does not require registration. If you prefer a saved workspace with resume versions and application history, account-based tools such as Teal, Huntr, and Rezi are more suitable.
What does Jobscan offer?
Jobscan is the baseline for this comparison, not an automatic winner or loser. Its resume scanner compares a resume with a job description and reports a Match Rate, missing hard and soft skills, keyword gaps, formatting checks, section analysis, and other resume-content signals. Jobscan's own documentation says the employer's ATS does not assign the same score; the Match Rate is a visualization used by Jobscan.
The wider Jobscan platform also includes a resume builder, LinkedIn Optimizer, cover-letter tools, job tracking, job-search features, and newer application-assistance features. Current official Jobscan material lists Premium at $49.95 monthly or $89.95 every three months, with a limited free membership and a seven-day Premium trial tied to the quarterly plan.
ATS checkers estimate how well a document aligns with their own checks. They do not reproduce every employer's ATS, recruiter configuration, ranking model, or hiring decision.
How we compared Jobscan alternatives
We used the same practical questions for each tool: Can it compare a resume with a job description? Does it identify missing keywords or skills? Does it check resume structure or ATS-related issues? What can someone use for free? Is an account required? What does meaningful paid access cost? Does the product add a builder, AI writing, or job tracking?
Pricing came from current official pricing or help pages, not older roundup articles. We did not invent a numeric rating because the products solve different problems. A focused keyword scanner and an all-in-one job-search workspace should not be forced into the same scoring model.
1. SkillsForResume ATS Resume Checker - free browser-based ATS and job match check
SkillsForResume ATS Resume Checker
No accountSkillsForResume's checker is the simplest option in this list. Paste resume text or use a text-based PDF or DOCX, optionally add a job description, and run the analysis in the browser. With a job description added, it can show a job-match score plus matched and missing skills. The page also includes resume-health checks, structure/content feedback, improvement suggestions, and re-scan functionality.
The privacy model is a concrete difference: the current tool states that text extraction and analysis run in the browser, and resume text/files are not uploaded or stored on SkillsForResume servers. That is useful if you want a one-off check without creating a profile or leaving a resume history in a cloud dashboard.
Useful points
- Free with no account requirement
- Direct resume-to-job-description matching
- Matched and missing skill signals
- PDF, DOCX, and pasted text input
- Browser-side processing
Limits
- No full resume builder
- No job application tracker
- No LinkedIn optimization suite
- No saved cloud history/account workspace
- Its scores are analysis estimates, not employer ATS scores
2. SkillSyncer - focused job-match scanning at a lower monthly price
SkillSyncer
2 free scans/weekSkillSyncer is close to Jobscan's core resume-vs-job-posting use case. Its free plan currently includes one resume, two job-match scans per week, ten AI credits per week, issue marking by section, PDF export, and a job tracker. The match report covers skills and keywords, job-title match, degree match, accomplishments, word count, and contact checks.
Premium removes the scan and resume limits, adds live match scoring, more detailed word-level guidance, 250 AI credits per week, and DOCX export. For job seekers who mostly want keyword and job-description matching rather than a broader career platform, this is one of the closest lower-cost replacements for Jobscan's scanning workflow.
Useful points
- Direct job-description matching
- Free scans replenish weekly
- Lower paid price than Jobscan
- Resume builder and job tracker included
- PDF and DOCX import supported
Limits
- Free plan capped at two job-match scans per week
- Free plan has one-resume limit
- More detailed word-level guidance is Premium
- Requires an account
3. Teal - resume matching plus an application-management workspace
Teal
Tracker + builderTeal combines resume building, resume analysis, job matching, and application tracking. The free plan is more generous on workspace features than many scanners: unlimited resume creation, unlimited job tracking, ten free resume templates, basic analysis, and limited AI credits. In Job Matching, free users see the top five keywords extracted from the job description; Teal+ exposes the full keyword list and advanced analysis.
Teal makes more sense when the bottleneck is organization as much as scanning. You can keep jobs, resume versions, notes, contacts, and matching work in one place. If you only need a one-time scan, that extra workspace can be more setup than you need.
Useful points
- Unlimited resumes on the free plan
- Unlimited job tracking
- Job-description keyword matching
- Resume analyzer and builder in one workspace
- PDF/DOCX resume import
Limits
- Free matching shows only the top five keywords
- Advanced analysis is paid
- Free AI credits are limited
- Requires an account and workspace setup
4. Rezi - ATS-focused resume builder with a lifetime option
Rezi
Builder-firstRezi is built around creating and improving ATS-friendly resumes rather than scanning an existing document as a standalone workflow. Its tools include Rezi Score, AI Keyword Targeting, real-time content analysis, AI writing/editing, and a resume builder. The free plan currently allows one resume and three PDF downloads, with limited AI and keyword-targeting access.
The $149 Lifetime plan is unusual in this category and can be attractive if you expect to use a resume platform repeatedly over time. Rezi requires a free account for its resume checker and advanced optimization workflow, so it is not a no-sign-up substitute for Jobscan.
Useful points
- ATS-focused resume builder
- Keyword targeting and Rezi Score
- AI writing and editing tools
- Monthly and one-time lifetime options
- PDF and DOCX checker support
Limits
- Free plan limited to one resume
- Only three PDF downloads on free
- Full feature access requires Pro or Lifetime
- Account required for resume checking
5. Resume Worded - detailed writing feedback plus Targeted Resume
Resume Worded
Writing feedbackResume Worded splits the workflow into several tools. Score My Resume reviews the document itself, while Targeted Resume compares a resume with a job posting and identifies missing skills and keywords. The company currently offers a first Targeted Resume relevancy report free; deeper reports, unlimited uploads, line-by-line analysis, and broader AI rewriting sit behind Resume Worded Pro.
This is a better fit if you care about line-level writing feedback and LinkedIn review as much as keyword matching. Price-wise, the monthly plan is almost the same as Jobscan's monthly subscription, although the annual billing option lowers the effective monthly cost.
Useful points
- Targeted Resume compares against a job description
- Missing skill and keyword feedback
- Separate resume-writing score and review
- LinkedIn review tools
- AI line rewriting on Pro
Limits
- Free reports are limited
- Full line-by-line analysis is paid
- Monthly Pro price is close to Jobscan
- No job-tracking workflow comparable to Teal/Huntr
6. Huntr - job tracking with resume matching and tailored versions
Huntr
Job-search managementHuntr started as a job tracker, and that still shapes the product. Its free Basic plan includes unlimited base resumes, two job-tailored resumes, basic resume-job matching and scoring, free PDF export, a job tracker for up to 100 jobs, a Chrome job clipper, and up to 100 document uploads.
Pro adds advanced job matching, advanced resume scoring, unlimited job-tailored resumes, unlimited AI review/tailoring, cover letters, and unlimited job tracking. Huntr is less like a single-purpose scanner and more like a job-search database with resume optimization attached.
Useful points
- Strong free job-tracking allowance
- Basic matching and scoring included free
- Resume builder and tailored versions
- Keyword Finder included across plans
- Advanced matching available on Pro
Limits
- Free tailored resumes are capped
- Advanced scoring/matching requires Pro
- Higher monthly price than SkillSyncer, Teal, Rezi, or Kickresume
- Requires an account
7. Kickresume - design-focused resume building with ATS checking
Kickresume
Builder + checkerKickresume is primarily a resume and cover-letter builder, but its Premium plan also includes an ATS Resume Checker, AI writing, resume tailoring tools, PDF and LinkedIn import, and other career tools. The ATS checker reports an overall score and checks design, content, and structure; free users can see the overall and category scores while the full report is a Premium feature.
The free plan includes four resume templates, four matching cover-letter templates, and unlimited downloads using free options. Kickresume also advertises six months of Premium free for verified students and teachers. Choose it when resume creation and layout matter as much as the scan; choose a more dedicated matcher if resume-to-job keyword analysis is your only goal.
Useful points
- Full resume and cover-letter builder
- ATS checker included with Premium
- AI writing and resume tailoring tools
- Lower annual effective price
- Student/teacher Premium program
Limits
- Full ATS report is paid
- Free plan is mainly the builder, not full scanning
- Requires an account
- More design/building features than a focused scanner user may need

If a checker tells you that important skills are missing, do not paste every keyword into a skills block. First confirm that the skill is true for your background, then place it where a recruiter can understand the evidence. The guide on how to list skills on a resume shows how to do that. You can also use the site's Skills Matcher to compare a job description with your skill set before editing the resume.

Features and prices can change. We verify this page periodically, but check each provider's official pricing page before purchasing. Longer-plan "per month" figures are effective rates; the provider charges the full stated billing amount upfront for that period.
Jobscan vs SkillsForResume
These two tools overlap on resume analysis and resume-to-job-description matching, but they are not trying to be the same product. SkillsForResume is a lightweight browser tool. Jobscan is a paid job-search platform with a much wider feature set.
| Feature | SkillsForResume | Jobscan |
|---|---|---|
| Base cost | Free | Free limited membership; Premium paid |
| Account required | No | Yes |
| Resume vs job description | Yes | Yes |
| Matched / missing skills | Yes | Yes |
| ATS-related structure checks | Yes | Yes |
| Platform-specific ATS tips | No | Yes, where supported |
| Resume builder | No | Yes |
| Job tracker | No | Yes |
| LinkedIn optimizer | No | Yes |
| Resume processing | Runs in browser; no server upload according to current page | Account-based platform |
If you want one quick check without creating an account, SkillsForResume has less friction. If you want a saved application workflow, LinkedIn optimization, a builder, and Jobscan's larger optimization toolkit, Jobscan provides more functionality. That difference is more useful than treating either one as a universal winner.
Which Jobscan alternative fits your workflow?
Want a free check with no account?
Start with SkillsForResume. It accepts pasted text, PDF, or DOCX and can compare the resume with a job description in-browser.
Want a lower-cost dedicated scanner?
SkillSyncer stays close to the keyword/job-match workflow and currently charges much less than Jobscan monthly.
Want tracking and resume versions together?
Teal and Huntr combine resume tailoring with application tracking and saved job-search data.
Want to build an ATS-focused resume from scratch?
Rezi combines an ATS-oriented builder, keyword targeting, scoring, and AI writing. Its lifetime plan is a different pricing model from subscriptions.
Want detailed writing feedback?
Resume Worded pairs Targeted Resume with Score My Resume, line-by-line feedback, and LinkedIn review features.
Want design and resume building too?
Kickresume puts more emphasis on templates, document creation, and AI writing while still offering ATS checking and tailoring tools.
Whatever tool you use, keep the underlying resume honest. A missing keyword is only worth adding if it reflects experience you actually have. If you need wording ideas, browse best skills to put on a resume, resume skills examples, or the guide to hard skills vs soft skills. For role-specific tools and technical terms, the technical skills page is a better reference than stuffing generic buzzwords into the document.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free alternative to Jobscan?
Yes. SkillsForResume is free and does not require an account. SkillSyncer provides two job-match scans per week on its free tier. Teal, Rezi, Resume Worded, Huntr, and Kickresume also have free access, but each limits different parts of the workflow. Compare the free limits rather than relying on the word "free" by itself.
What is the closest lower-cost alternative to Jobscan?
For the narrow resume-versus-job-description workflow, SkillSyncer is one of the closest matches in this list. It checks keywords, skills, job-title match, degree match, and other resume signals, with two free scans per week and Premium at $14.95 per month. Teal is broader if you also want job tracking and resume management.
Is SkillSyncer similar to Jobscan?
Yes. Both compare a resume with a job posting and report keyword or skill gaps. Jobscan adds a wider suite that includes LinkedIn optimization and a larger job-search platform, while SkillSyncer focuses more tightly on resume matching, its builder, AI edits, and tracking at a lower paid price.
Is Resume Worded similar to Jobscan?
Partly. Resume Worded's Targeted Resume overlaps with Jobscan by comparing a resume to a job description and finding missing skills or keywords. Resume Worded also emphasizes writing quality, line-by-line resume feedback, and LinkedIn review. Its monthly Pro price is currently close to Jobscan's monthly price.
Does Jobscan use the same ATS as employers?
No. Jobscan simulates and analyzes ATS-related factors, but its own resume-scanner documentation states that an employer's ATS does not assign the Jobscan Match Rate. Employers use different ATS platforms, configurations, recruiter searches, filters, and hiring processes.
What ATS score is considered good?
There is no universal score that transfers across every checker or employer. Each tool calculates its score differently. Use a score to compare revisions inside the same tool, then read the actual findings: missing requirements, keywords, parsing issues, structure problems, and weak content. Do not treat one vendor's percentage as an employer cutoff.
Can ChatGPT replace Jobscan or an ATS checker?
ChatGPT can help rewrite bullets, compare text, and suggest ways to present experience, but a dedicated checker gives you a repeatable product workflow, defined checks, and often resume parsing, scoring, saved versions, or job tracking. AI writing can complement a checker; it does not make every tool-specific ATS analysis equivalent.
Can an ATS checker guarantee an interview?
No. A checker can help you spot keyword, formatting, structure, and relevance issues. It cannot control the employer's ATS settings, applicant pool, recruiter judgment, hiring criteria, interview process, or whether the role changes after you apply.
